Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park

Located northeast of Redding in the middle of Big Lake, this unique park is accessible only by boat. Offering excellent trout and bass fishing and a breathtaking view of Mount Shasta, the park is surrounded by a network of rivers and lakes. You will also find an abundance of cold, clear springs fed by waters from Tule Lake 50 miles to the north. Boaters, canoeists and hikers can explore the parks 6,000 acres of lava flows, waterways, and pools or just watch the wildlife there. Boats are launched from the Rat Farm located three miles north of McArthur on a dirt road from the end of Main Street.
