Arcata

Arcata is located just northeast of Eureka between Eureka and McKinleyville along Highway 255 on the banks of the Mad River near Humboldt Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

Its name derives from Indian term for "lagoon". Arcata began as a base camp for miners and lumbermen.
