Oakland Youth Orchestra provides an orchestral experience of pre-professional caliber each year to more than 80 culturally diverse musicians ranging in age from 12 to 21, from the Greater Bay area. The Music Program of the Orchestra offers young musicians musical education and performance opportunities at a high level, sectional coaching by performing musicians, an annual concerto competition with cash prizes, the opportunity for solo performers at its concerts, and the chance to interact with other talented youth.
