Located in the rolling bench land at the foot of Bradford Mountain in the Dry Creek Valley, Raymond Burr Vineyards produces award winning Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay from estate vineyards. It offers wine sales and complimentary tasting in the Tasting Room. Small or large groups are accommodated.
Raymond Burr and Robert Benevides shared a mutual interest in the cultivation and hybridization of orchids. This shared hobby eventually grew into a commercial venture, Sea God Nurseries, which gained international recognition in its 20 years. During this period, Burr and Benevides were responsible for the hybridization of over 2,000 new orchids. Tours of the nursery are available on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 am by appointment. All year Satellite Wagering, Waterworld USA, Paradise Island Fun Center and an RV Park are just a few of the features of the Cal Expo.The first State Fair was held in 1854 in San Francisco at the old Music Hall. The fair offered premiums (prizes) for its competitions and included such agricultural exhibits such as 2-inch-long peanuts, 72-pound beets and a 10-pound carrot that was longer than 3 feet. Horseracing was part of that first fair and has continued to be a part of the fair ever since.
