The City of Carson is located 16 miles south of downtown
Los Angeles, in the region known as the South Bay. Carson is located near
Long Beach and
Torrance. The Los Angeles harbor is a few miles to the south of Carson. This suburb is located within between Highways 110 and 405.
Almost 200 years after the founding of Rancho San Pedro, 142 years after the Dominguez Adobe was built, and 58 years after the Great Air Meet of 1910, the citizens of Carson finally took steps towards incorporation. The town was incorporated on Tuesday, February 6, 1968. This incorporation made Carson the 8th largest city in Greater Los Angeles.
