Over looking the charm of rustic old barns, lush vineyards and Mt. Diablo as a backdrop is Thomas Coyne Winery. Thomas Coyne, the winemaker, started producing wine in 1989 under his own label. The wines consistently win awards in local, regional, and state competition. The grapes are purchased from the Livermore Valley, El Dorado County and Contra Costa County. Wines produced are Merlot, Mourvédre, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Grenache, a Rhone blend called Quest, a Bordeaux blend called Confluence, a small amount of Pinot Blanc and Viognier. The winery is open weekends, noon to 5 pm for tasting and sales.
