Drakes Bay

Named for Sir Francis Drake in the service of his Queen, Elizabeth of England

Drakes Bay was discovered about 1578-79 by who also discovered and named present day San Francisco Bay as "New Albion".

Now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Drakes Bay is known to San Franciscan fisherman for it's seafood bounty.
