The Emeryville AMTRAK station is the primary West Coast east-west & north-south junction of AMTRAK. ALL passenger trains between Los Angeles and Seattle, to and from Chicago, IL pass through this station. A quick bus or taxi ride up Powell St. provides easy access to BART, (Bay Area Rapid Transit) system. BART provides rail access between Richmond and San Jose and between the San Francisco Airport and the greater "East Bay" area.

The fair offered premiums (prizes) for its competitions and included such agricultural exhibits such as 2-inch-long peanuts, 72-pound beets and a 10-pound carrot that was longer than 3 feet. Horseracing was part of that first fair and has continued to be a part of the fair ever since.
