The Forest Theatre Guild is a wonderful Carmel experience. Audiences are encouraged to come early and bring a picnic to eat under the stars in front of the roaring fire pits.

The Forest Theater has a history that is rich and varied. In 1908 poet-dramatist Herbert Heron and several of the Carmel-by-the-Sea pioneers of the local arts scene conceived the idea of an outdoor theater in the forest. Under Heron's leadership this group formed the Forest Theater Society.
