Nestled along the Pacific coastline on 1,200 acres of coastal woodland, UCSD is home to one of the nation's two national supercomputing centers sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
UCSD ranks 10th in the United Sates in the excellence of its graduate programs and the quality of its faculty, according to the National Research Council. Their oceanography and neurosciences programs also rank first in the nation.
UCSD numbers five Nobel Laureates on its faculty and ranks seventh in the country in the number of National Academy of Science members.
