University of California-Santa Cruz

The University of California, Santa Cruz, opened in 1965 and grew, one college at a time, to its current (2001-02) enrollment of over 13,000 students.

The unique curricula of UCSC include Environment and Society (College Eight), International and Global Perspectives (College Nine), Social Justice and Community (College 10) and the Colleges of Cowell, Crown, Kresge, Merrill, Oakes, Porter and Stevenson--each with its own distinctive area of emphasis.

UCSC's Academic Divisions include Arts, Engineering, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.

UC Santa Cruz offers graduate study in 25 academic fields, ranging from Anthropology to Theater Arts.. A total of about 1,100 graduate students are enrolled at the certificate, master's, and doctoral levels.
