California Western's beginnings date back to its charter of 1924 as Balboa Law College, the first law school in San Diego. Several years later, it was renamed Balboa University.
The law school has grown from six full-time faculty members to more than 40, from 23 students to more than 720, and from the original 18,000 volumes in the Law Library to more than 236,000 in addition to various online services.
The two-trimester curriculum includes such ares as Civil Procedure, Contracts, and "Problem Solving" with emphasis on "Legal Research, Writing & Analysis".
