Born out of the ashes of the Watts Rebellion, Charles R. Drew Postgraduate School was founded in 1966 in response to the lack of adequate medical facilities in the area. The institution later became a University and changed its name in 1987 to reflect its expanded academic role and identity. Emphasizing service to the community, the University draws inspiration from the life of Dr. Charles R. Drew.The two Colleges of the University of study are the College of Allied Health and the College of Medicine. The University is located in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA, with a total enrollment of about 320.
