The educational programs that would become International School of Theology began as the Institute of Biblical Studies (IBS) in 1962. IBS was a program consisting of biblical, theological and ministry classes that helped supplement the training of Campus Crusade for Christ staff members, lay people and college students. Under the leadership of its president and founder, Dr. William R. Bright, Campus Crusade has been involved extensively in biblical education and leadership development of Christians throughout the world.

Degree programs at IST include the Master of Divinity, the Master of Arts in Theological Studies and the Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies.

The School is located in San Bernardino, San Bernardino County, CA, and total enrollment is approximately 95.
