Modesto Junior College, one of the oldest community colleges in California, was organized in 1921 to serve the first junior college district established under a State Legislature Enabling Act. Today, Modesto Junior College offers two-year programs leading to Certificates as well as the Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science degrees, including transfer, technical, and vocational programs. Among the "unique" programs are: Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (with majors in Dairy Science, Ornamental Horticulture and Poultry Science (to name but three); Gerontology and(the Certificate program of) Professional Selling. The College is located in Stanislaus County, CA, and has a total enrollment of about 16,000.

California Exposition & State Fair Sacramento CA June12-28 The Cal Expo is the site of the California State Fair. All year Satellite Wagering, Waterworld USA, Paradise Island Fun Center and an RV Park are just a few of the features of the Cal Expo.The first State Fair was held in 1854 in San Francisco at the old Music Hall. The fair offered premiums (prizes) for its competitions and included such agricultural exhibits such as 2-inch-long peanuts, 72-pound beets and a 10-pound carrot that was longer than 3 feet.
