Samra University, is the oldest school of Oriental Medicine in the United States. In 1979, they became the first school of Oriental Medicine to receive Full Institutional Approval by the California State Department of Education. Their Master of Oriental Medicine degree program is accredited by the National Accreditation Commission for Schools and Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. To accommodate students' varying backgrounds, classes are taught separately in three languages: English, Mandarin Chinese and Korean. Samra offers a four academic-year course of study, which can be completed in 36 consecutive months of full-time study, leading to the degree of Master of Oriental Medicine. Classes offered include Chinese Medical Theory, Acupuncture Theory, Chinese Herbology, and clinical work, along with the basic sciences, anatomy and physiology. The University is located in Los Angeles, CA, and has an enrollment of about 320.
