San Joaquin Delta College was established in 1963 following the reorganization of Stockton Junior College. Since 1935, the JC and now Delta have been serving the educational needs of California's great San Joaquin Valley. The District covers well over 2300 square miles, an area larger than the states of Delaware or Rhode Island. The main campus was built in the early 1970's on a 165 acre site in Stockton, California. It has been divided into five main instructional centers, each designed with a central courtyard and study lounge. The goal is to encourage students and faculty to develop activities according to their own interests, thereby creating a healthy campus-wide diversity. In addition to the main campus, the college operates a 157 acre farm laboratory in Manteca and an 83 acre natural habitat reserve near Mountain Ranch in the Mother Lode. Over 17,000 full and part-time students attend Delta College. SJDC is located in San Joaquin County, CA.
