Founded in 1989, California State University San Marcos opened its doors to students in the fall of 1990. It is the first of a new generation of Cal State Universities. Nearly 6,500 students currently attend the 304-acre campus, situated in the foothills of northern San Diego County just a short distance from some of Southern California's best beaches and an hour from the U.S.-Mexico Border.
The College of Arts and Sciences is the academic heart of the university, and they have a strong dedication to the values of a liberal arts education. They offer 22 Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree programs, 17 minor degree programs, and 9 Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Science (M.S.) degree programs.
Also offered is the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, the Master of Business Administration and the Master of Arts in Education.
CSSM is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
