Between the eastern California towns of Inyokern and Lee Vining, the Inyo National Forest extends for 165 miles, largely paralleling Highway 395 and Highway 6. Among its prominent features are
Mount Whitney, parts of the Pacific Crest Trail, and
Devil's Postpile National Monument.
In winter, skiing is very popular at Mammoth Lakes, which also provides gondola rides in summer. There are many scenic roads throughout the forest for summer driving.
