The Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail extends more than 30 miles from
Sacramento to
Folsom Dam; and, with relatively few street crossings. The Trail, the American River, several parks, beaches and recreational areas make up the American River Parkway. The Parkway receives more use than any other recreational area in the Sacramento region. More than five million visitors use the Parkway each year.
Visitors can enjoy trails for bikers, hikers, equestrians, and other foot traffic. The scenic setting also attracts fishermen, picnickers, archers, and bird watchers.
