Recreation at Lake Skinner covers about 6040 acres. The area has 41 developed campsites, 18 developed equestrian campsites with electricity, and 178 full hookup sites. Visitors can partake in fishing, boating, camping (reservations recommended), group camping (reservations required), picnic facilities, recreational vehicle hookups, a swimming pool (open Memorial Day weekend through the third weekend in September), two launch ramps, equestrian trails, group picnic area (reservations recommended), hiking and interpretive trails, boat rentals, a camp store, and a dry storage area.

The Recreation Area is open from 6:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on the summer and from 6:00 a.m. until dusk in the winter. Fees for the area include: Day use: $2.00, age 13 and up; $1.00, age 12 and under; Camping: $12.00-$18.00; Fishing: $5.00, age 16 and up; $4.00, age 5 to 16. Launch fee: $2.00.
