Innovations in grape growing and wine making have characterized the Louis M. Martini Winery since Louis founded the business in 1922. After building the present winery in
St. Helena in 1933, the Martini family began acquiring grape acreage in
Napa and
Sonoma County, beginning with the Monte Rosso Vineyard in 1938 and La Loma in Carneros in 1942.
Martini was the first winery to make substantial investment in the Carneros region, and the pioneering work of Louis and his son Louis in developing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Carneros remains an industry standard.
Today, third generation winemaker Michael Martini draws on the family's extensive vineyard holdings and the tradition of winemaking excellence to produce classic red and white varietal wines.
