Located in the extreme southern end of
Yosemite National Park, the grove is reached by Wawona Road (Hwy 41), an easy 36-mile paved drive from
Yosemite Valley. Among the famous trees are Grizzly Giant, the oldest in the grove. Also there is the California Tree with a tunnel through it, and the Clothespin Tree.
Mariposa Grove Museum contains exhibits about giant sequoias. A naturalist gives talks about the park during summer months. Massachusetts Tree, which has fallen, provides opportunities to observe the wood. Guided bus tours run from the valley to the grove.
