Mariposa Grove

One of the Finest Sequoia Groves in the Sierra Nevada

Located in the extreme southern end of Yosemite National Park, the grove is reached by Wawona Road (Hwy 41), an easy 36-mile paved drive from Yosemite Valley. Among the famous trees are Grizzly Giant, the oldest in the grove. Also there is the California Tree with a tunnel through it, and the Clothespin Tree.

Mariposa Grove Museum contains exhibits about giant sequoias. A naturalist gives talks about the park during summer months. Massachusetts Tree, which has fallen, provides opportunities to observe the wood. Guided bus tours run from the valley to the grove.
