In 1923, as
Sacramento was recovering from a devastating influenza epidemic, a group of physicians and other leading citizens decided Sacramento needed a state-of-the-art hospital to better meet the needs of the community. Building upon the legacy of the city's first hospital at the site of Sutter's Fort, they established what has become one of Northern California's leading medical centers.
This 306-bed specialty medical center focuses on general acute medical/surgical care as well as a medical base to advanced services for cancer, orthopedics, spine, and neurology and neurosurgery.
