What went from a "sanitarium" on Third Street in downtown
Watsonville in 1895, to a $10,000 "modern" hospital in 1938, to an earthquake devastated facility in 1989, has evolved into a state-of-the-art health care center for the Monterey Bay. It's almost a miracle, just like the ones that happen every day at their premiere, patient-focused facility.
Watsonville Community Hospital (WCH) has entered into an exciting new phase. They are pleased to be part of a nationwide group of over 47 hospitals owned by Community Health Systems, Inc. (CHS) of Brentwood, Tennessee. CHS is a for-profit health care system that, through its financing, is able to afford many opportunities for growth, capitalization and diversification that were previously not possible. With CHS, they now have a growing presence and participation throughout the Monterey Bay.
