Founded in 1923, San Jose Medical Center is recognized for its ability to treat high-risk cases and to serve the increasingly diverse populations of central and east San Jose. SJMC has been a leader in trauma services for more than a decade and is the busiest of three designated trauma centers in Santa Clara County.With a busy emergency service, SJMC also offers high quality diagnostic services, superior surgical programs, including open heart surgery, and patient focussed nursing care from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit through general medical-surgical nursing and into their on-site skilled nursing facility and acute rehabilitation center. Their Family Practice Residency Program in conjunction with Stanford University operates a highly effective Family Health Center.
