Located 29 miles SW of King City, the mission is one of the largest restored and rebuilt missions. Original remains include the gristmill, tannery and parts of the aqueduct system. The mission features a museum with American Indian artifacts.

The mission was founded by Father Junipero Serra on July 14, 1771 and holds its annual fiesta the second weekend in June.
