One of the
Spanish Missions established by the Spanish in California, Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana was established in 1797. Restored structures at the mission include the church, monastery, majordomo's house, workrooms, and living quarters around the quadrangle. The old gardens, now Brand Park, have flowers and shrubs from the other 20 missions. A carillon, with 35 bells, rings hourly between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Three films illustrating the history of the mission, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and the life of Father Junipero Serra are presented at a museum theater. The museum is closed Thanksgiving and Christmas. Please call for admission times.
