Mission Trails Regional Park

Located eight miles northeast of downtown San Diego, Mission Trails Regional Park is California's largest urban park with more than 5,800 acres of natural and developed recreational areas. Visitors to the park begin their trek at the new visitor and interpretive center, located at One Father Junipero Serra Trail. Highlights of the park include a 360 degree view from the top of Cowles Mountain which is San Diego's highest point at 1,591 feet; Old Mission Dam Historic Area which is a nationally registered historic landmark; and Kumeyaay Lake for shoreline fishing, hiking, and bird watching. Lake Murray is also available offering visitors a paved scenic trail for pedestrians and bicyclists; picnic facilities, water fowl, fishing, and Mission Trails Golf Course.
