The Newlan family established themselves as quality growers of Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir during the 1960s and 70s. The Newlan label was established in 1980, producing the family's first Cabernet Sauvignon. Tasting and sales are held in the winery's barrel aging room, entered through the hand carved doors that were once the entrance to an old church. Newlan's focus is on red wines; Cabernet Sauvignon and estate bottled Pinot Noir. They also produce Zinfandel from century old vines and a Chardonnay from Carneros region grapes. The Winery is open daily from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Horseracing was part of that first fair and has continued to be a part of the fair ever since.
