Novato California

Novato has a rural atmosphere due to its low population. Novato has many parks and open spaces in the area. This includes Olompali State Park, just north of Novato. The city itself is home to a total of twenty-seven parks, including three major city parks. The North Marin Water District also maintains an open space preserve near Loma Verda.

Major community events in Novato include the Novato Festival of Art, Wine and Music each June, Concerts in the Park throughout the summer, the annual 4th of July Parade in downtown Novato and the City's Labor Day Picnic at Stafford Lake.

Novato is north of San Francisco on Highway 101 in Marin County. The home of the first postmaster, built around 1856, is now the local museum, with photographs and relics from Novatos early days.

Novato is part of the San Francisco, California metro area.
