Orinda is located in Contra Costa County, within the San Francisco Bay Area, between Berkeley and Lafayette on Hwy 24 immediately east of the Caldecott Tunnel on Highway 24 and is served by a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) (BART) station. Suburban Orinda is snuggled at the intersection of two canyons in the East Bay Hills. Limited flat ground restricts building in Orinda. Just ten (10), minuets by freeway from downtown Oakland and Berkeley, residents of Orinda enjoy a much different, (warmer & dryer), climate than the residents of the cities on the other side of the East Bay Hills. The hills stop the fog most of the time, allowing the Orinda area to heat up faster on summer mornings. The temperature difference can be as much as 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Orinda serves as a gateway to many small East Bay communities on the east side of the Oakland-Berkeley hills, including Moraga, Laffayette, Walnut Creek and Canyon.

California Exposition & State Fair Sacramento CA June12-28 The Cal Expo is the site of the California State Fair. All year Satellite Wagering, Waterworld USA, Paradise Island Fun Center and an RV Park are just a few of the features of the Cal Expo.The first State Fair was held in 1854 in San Francisco at the old Music Hall. The fair offered premiums (prizes) for its competitions and included such agricultural exhibits such as 2-inch-long peanuts, 72-pound beets and a 10-pound carrot that was longer than 3 feet. Horseracing was part of that first fair and has continued to be a part of the fair ever since.
