Search Pacifica California

Pacifica means "peace" in Spanish. However, the City of Pacifica did not receive its name from its Spanish fore bearers. Pacifica's name was the product of a contest held in 1957 to find a name for the newly incorporated coastal city.

Pacifica is just a short distance from San Francisco and has plenty of recreation options.

Pacifica is located in San Mateo County just south of San Francisco between San Francisco and Half Moon Bay along Highway 1 on the beach of the Pacific Ocean.

Rockaway Beach, only minuets from downtown San Francisco, is a wonderful overnight or weekend retreat for Bay Area residents in the know. Nicks Hideaway Motel and Restaurant are constructed overlooking the beach. Visitors are lulled to sleep by the sound of waves breaking on the seawall and beach no more than 50 feet away. In addition to Nicks, there are several modern motels on the beach a short walk away. Nicks offers clean rooms at 1/2 the price of lesser rooms in San Francisco.

Pacifica is part of the San Francisco, California metro area.
