The Feynes Mansion was built in 1905 in the Beaux Arts style. The museum was founded first in 1924 as the Pasadena Historical Society; the Pasadena Museum of History is Pasadena's only museum devoted solely to preserving the local history and culture. The Museum's archival collections of over 1,000,000 historic photographs, rare books, manuscripts, maps, architectural records, costumes, paintings and artifacts are the largest and most comprehensive collections relating to the rich history of the area. Its rooms are furnished with original period pieces, artwork and antiques. The lower level of the mansion contains exhibits reflecting
Pasadena history. Also on the grounds is the Finnish Folk Art Museum, with exhibits including handmade furniture, utensils, and decorative pieces.
