Rich Bar Mining Company

The Rich Bar Mining Company, located about 22 miles west of Quincy off Highway 70, offers guided gold panning at hourly or daily rates. Rich Bar, alongside the Feather River, was one of the best producing placer gold mines in the entire Sierra Nevada, as some $90 million in gold was taken there. Visitors today can gather gravel and pan them in a covered panning booth. The use of hand tools is included in the rate. Other tools are not allowed. There is a picnic area and restrooms on site.
