Robert Louis Stevenson State Park is the place where the famous author of "Treasure Island" and "Kidnapped" spent his honeymoon in 1880. The area features rough terrain, with evergreen forests in the canyons on the north-facing slopes and chaparral on the south slopes. There is a 5-mile hike to the top of Mount Saint Helena from which one can see much of the
San Francisco Bay area. Nothing remains of Stevenson's cabin, but the site is marked on the trail to the summit.
The park is 7 miles north of Calistoga on Hwy 29 and is open from sunrise to sunset.
