One of the best-known Thoroughbred horse racing tracks in the nation, Santa Anita has been staging horse races since 1934. It also introduced a number of technological advances into horse racing; including the magnetically controlled starting gate, the photo finish, electrical timing, and the totalisator. The racing season is early October to early November and late December to late April, Wednesday through Sunday.
