Shasta State Historic Park

Brick ruins of the business district of this gold rush city remain for visitors to see. In 1849, Shasta, the "Queen City" of the northern mines in the Klamath Range, served as a main shipping point for supplies and money between the mines and San Francisco. The Shasta County Courthouse in the park is filled with historical exhibits, artifacts and an outstanding collection of historic California art.

The park is 6 miles west of downtown Redding. Highway 299 passes through the town's main street.
