The Plaza itself is exactly 666 square feet. Surrounding the Plaza were a number of historic structures, including the Mission, Vallejo's barracks, the homes of several dignitaries (including Colonel Joe Hooker ), the union hotel and Green's courthouse. To this day the Plaza remains a center of celebration as the heart of Sonoma. On September 24, 1961 it was dedicated as a National Historic Landmark.
