Taft is located in
Kern County, within the
Central Valley Region, southwest of
Bakersfield on Hwy 33 near Maricopa.
It was named after President William Howard Taft and was the filming location for the 1991 movie, "Thelma & Louise" and 1997 the movie, "The Break Up".
