On this site, newly rich Californians built summer palaces in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Three shoreline estates are open to visitors. Guided tours are conducted. Some of the buildings are in the process of restoration. There is a visitor center and an art gallery where artists may be observed at work.The site is open dawn to dusk from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. The site is on Highway 89 north of Camp Richardson.
