Founded in 1891, this is an independent institution with historical ties to the Church of the Brethren. There are 3 undergraduate schools and 4 graduate schools. The 26-acre campus is in a suburban area 35 miles east of
Los Angeles. Including residence halls there are 16 buildings, some of them historic.
Along with very active fraternities and sororities, there are over 30 clubs and organizations on campus.
