It was built in an old mission sytle reminiscent of Mexico and Old California with arched entrances, terra cotta curved roofing and rugged outpost railing. Large Ojai river rocks tumble into place forming corners. Flagstone paths are marked with intricate inset stone designs hand inlaid by Julia Whitman. The exquisite handmade mediterranean tiles on the walls and around the pool were created by celebrated Ojai Studio Artists Richard Keit and Mary Kennedy.You are greedted at the entry by Marc Whitman's imposing Blue Iguana tile mosaic sculpture and fountain, as you wander around the garden, look for other mysterious creatures hidden throughout the grounds. A little blue azurite lizard? A gecko on the wall? A serpent in the stones? What next?The artistry is continued in each of our guestrooms.
