The ghost town of Bodie, a non-commercialized state park, is 20 miles away. Numerous lakes and streams in the Bridgeport area offer excellent trout fishing, including twin lakes where the state records for rainbow trout have been caught. Bridgeport is the county seat of Mono County, and its 1880 courthouse is the second oldest still in operation in California.
