This landmark Victorian was built in 1890 at 1890 Page Street just one block from the newly developed Golden Gate Park. It has noteable architechural features, including massive turrets and six original fireplaces. Most rooms are decorated in period furniture, but are deliberately designed to be relaxed and comfortable. The inn kitchen and dining room overlooks a large seventy year old avocado tree planted by a boy who lived here with his family in the1930s. When you are here you may want to read this stately Victorian's history and see its official documentation, along with its census records. Built by a famous architech for a local physician, it is quite likely that for a few years this was a place for unwed mothers and/or the treatment of addicts. In addition, a daughter of the famous Flood family from the California gold rush lived here from 1892 to 1895, and in the 1920s the estate became the subject of a notorious litigation (and book) between their (alleged) children.

All year Satellite Wagering, Waterworld USA, Paradise Island Fun Center and an RV Park are just a few of the features of the Cal Expo.The first State Fair was held in 1854 in San Francisco at the old Music Hall. The fair offered premiums (prizes) for its competitions and included such agricultural exhibits such as 2-inch-long peanuts, 72-pound beets and a 10-pound carrot that was longer than 3 feet. Horseracing was part of that first fair and has continued to be a part of the fair ever since.
