Tulare County. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 6,642, an increase of 964 since 1990.
The city is nestled among citrus and olive orchards at the base of the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
The community of Woodlake was founded in 1912 by Gilbert F. Stevenson, a wealthy land developer from southern California. In 1940, Woodlake was incorporated, becoming Tulare County's seventh city.
