Bayfield is in the heart of the Pine River Valley, in the southwest corner of Colorado, where the high plains meet the mountains. One of the state's largest and most stunning water spots is Lake Vallecito, situated very close to Bayfield, and offering an abundance of recreational opportunities. Bayfield is also the place to go for non-stop rodeo action. From spring to fall, rodeos take place each weekend. Highway 160 bisects the town. Durango is 18 miles to the west.
