Canon City

Canon City's location in the Rocky Mountains, at the head of Arkansas Valley, offers visitors the spectacular canyon scenery that has been featured on movie screens since 1910. It is the home of the Royal Gorge and the Royal Gorge Bridge, the world's highest suspension bridge. The gorge can be explored by riding an aerial tram, the world's steepest, to the bottom. The area's prehistoric roots are embodied by the life-size Allosaurus replica that greets visitors to Canon City. More replicas of dinosaur remains found locally are on display Dinosaur Depot Museum. Canon City is located just west of Pueblo on Hwy 50. The Cripple Creek Historic Area and De Weese Reservoir are nearby.
