Dolores is located halfway between Durango and Telluride, on Hwy 145. McPhee Reservoir, the second largest body of water in Colorado is here, and the Escalante Ruins Historical Site are nearby. Dolores lies on the San Juan Skyway Scenic Byway, a state and federally designated scenic highway which is so awe-inspiring, it has been called 'America's Most Beautiful Drive'.
