Located in Rocky Mountain National Park Fan Falls originates from the lip of a granite cliff wall that separates cleanly the montane and the tundra between Alice Peak and Longs Peak. The falls consists of two main leaps, 25' and 10, one fast on the heels of the other, then a long fan or horsetail cascade hundreds of feet down the rocks through lush blue-bells.

To get to Fan Falls, take the Thunder Lake trail from Wild Basin Ranger Station. Take the right fork in the main trail at about 1.4 miles. You can cut a half-mile off the distance to Fan Falls and Thunder Lake by bypassing Ouzel Falls.) The trail forks again at about 4.7 miles from the trailhead. The left fork takes you to Thunder Lake, at 6.8 miles.
